We’ve been building more Leo’s, Capricorns and custom pedals than we expected. We thank all our customers for supporting our products and for being so patient with us. The shadow side of this success is that waiting times kept growing and growing... Therefore, things need to change here at ARGER. We’ve decided to take some time to optimize and standardize our products, thereby further continuing quality and cutting down wait-times, while retaining our unique look.

So, what are the consequences for you as a customer? First and most importantly, we continue to build the Capricorn+ and the Leo, complete with custom paint. All other pedals retire as of today. Second, ARGER no longer offers to build pedals with custom electronics, like a Leo Grande or Capricorn Grande, since it takes up too much time. This way we can cut down wait times and continue to give customers the attention and high quality pedals they deserve.

We look forward to providing you with pedals that not only look great, but also sound incredible!!

Gerwin & Arjan
ARGERFX.com

Capricorn Evolution

PICKUP SIMULATOR - FOR ACTIVE BASSES
When building lots of pedals for bass players, you learn every day. For instance, we both use passive basses and test our pedals with these, while many customers use active basses and, as the pedal-loving crowd will confirm, active basses and fuzz pedals are not exactly a match made in heaven.

So, we decided to start offering a Pickup Simulator. Without getting too technical… an active pickup has a different impedance than a passive pickup. What the pickup simulation does, is shape the frequency response of a signal to imitate the impedance of a (bass-) guitar pickup output. In short, they fix the miscommunication between bass and pedal.

The Pickup Sim can be added to a Capricorn Plus pedal (see picture) for an added price of € 25,- or can be built into a separate Passive / Active box for use with other pedals. The latter option costs € 69,- and includes a custom paint job.

SOME MORE EVOLUTION - GRANDE OR ELITE???
After we built the LEO Grande for Nepe we started fooling with the idea of building a Capricorn Grande, which would be delivering all of your bass dirt pedals in one relatively small box, hence the addition of “Grande”. It COULD include the following:

A standard Capricorn Plus
Bigger enclosure w. paint job
Compressor (we love this one)
Pickup-sim
Capricorn Dual Transistors - adds a toggle that lets you switch between a soft, tube-like MOSFET transistor (BS170) and a gritty, nasty Darlington transistor (MPSA18)
ARGER Bass Rat - ARGER's version of the dirty rhodent overdrive pedal, heavily modded for bass, with dual clipping (adds a toggle that gives you the opportunity to switch between standard RAT-clipping, MOSFET-clipping or both)
Deluxe Blend w. Send-Return - a new and updated blend circuit. This circuit contains send an return jacks, which makes it possible to plug in any pedal you own an blend it with the Capricorn (replacing the boost with any other pedal you own).
ARGER Bass Muff Fuzz - ARGER’s version that was already in the LEO Grande, only optimized for bass guitar.

Building something like that could look like this:

To tackle this, we provide you with a basic presentation of what you pedal will look like: a Mock-Up.

These mock-ups always had one thing in common: they were very “flat” and did not give you the feeling you were looking at an actual pedal. An example is this pedal we’ll be creating for Michael from Canada. It’s based on a ’69 Camaro:
